Social Worker

SUMMARY 

Supports families and individuals with specific needs to cope with challenges they are facing in their lives and improves their psychological and social status. The social worker prepares, plans, implements, and finally evaluates special programs aiming at achieving a comprehensive, continuous social development and wellbeing

RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Offers socio-medical advice and guidance to the   Primary Health Care Satellite Unit (PSU) patients 

·         Establishes a good communication network with the different actors in intervention to facilitate implementation of health education sessions

·         Coordinates with  Primary Health Care Satellite Unit (PSU) team and the Primary Health Care Center to suggest topics to be raised 

·         Establishes a feedback and complaint mechanism for the beneficiaries in coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation Department

·         Support in the development of Health Education material when needed

·         Delivers training sessions

·         Works in close coordination with the Field Coordinator to ensure timely implementation of activities planned for the project 

·         Conducts regular focus group discussions, awareness sessions and questionnaires to evaluate medical activities in coordination with the Monitoring and Evaluation department 

·         Evaluates referral cases for needy patients to the hospital based on fixed vulnerability criteria 

·         Map the available services in areas of intervention (Health, Education, livelihoods, etc.) and updates the service mapping periodically 

·         Carries out social, psychological and health care assessment needs in alignment with the medical and social strategies

·         Logs all activity data on Phenics and corresponding data sheets

·         Carries out other tasks assigned by the management and/or PSU Field Coordinator and related to site operation

·         Conducts home visits when needed

QUALIFICATIONS 

·         Bachelor’s degree in social work (Assistante Sociale/Assistante médico-sociale)

·         Master’s degree is a plus

·         A minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a social worker including social needs assessment

·         Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights and social legislation in Lebanon

·         Social interview and assessment techniques

·         Communication and strong active listening skills

·         Empathy 

·         Stress management 

·         Collaboration and teamwork 

·         Planning and organizing 

·         Computer literacy (Microsoft Office…) including working experience with a health information system (Phenics or other) is a must

·         Fluency in Arabic, and one additional language (French or English) is a must
