SAINT LOUIS DES CAPUCINS - ORGUE

The Cathedral of Saint Louis des Capucins was built by the Order of Friars Minor Capuchins between 1864 and 1868 according to plans by Luigi Cavelli and Emile Duthoit. After being bombed, pillaged, and burned in December 1975 at the start of the Lebanese War, it was the first church in the city center to re-open its doors after major restoration works were completed in December 2000. The Cathedral had lost its organ, one of its most precious jewels, during the war, so it was necessary to build a new one. With the help of the Italian organ builder Saverio Tamburini who offered Fra' Jean-Louis the organ of an old church in the town of Créma near Milan, with the project of upgrading it and modernizing it entirely. by keeping the oldest pieces (18th and 19th centuries) and enlarging its registers. This project has now been completed and the Cathedral Organ will be operational starting January 1, 2024. This project was made possible thanks to the participation of Fra' Jean-Louis Mainguy, the Marc-Henri Mainguy Foundation and the involvement of the Lebanese Association of Knights of Malta and Mr. Nabil Kettané Knight of the Order.
