SUMMARY
Offer support and services to pregnant women aiming at enhancing their awareness on pregnancy and engaging them actively in its management during PSU field visits, in order to ensure a positive pregnancy experience across the mobile unit's service locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Greets women and/or couples and gathers biodata and obstetrical information during PSU visits.
· Completes clinical assessment including patient interview and physical examination and assesses clinical situation.
· Identifies and assesses the medical, social or psychological risk for the mother or couple.
· Updates patients' files in the Health Information System and always maintains data.
· Develops and implements monitoring and prevention action plans.
· Offers blood and other test investigations relevant to the pregnancy follow-up.
· Collaborates closely with the PSU Physician and/or Community Obstetrician for the brief and follow-up of patients.
· Organizes and schedules appointments for genetic scans (morphological ultrasound) at partner facilities.
· Transmits the summary of the patient's file to the obstetrician sonographer for his monthly visit.
· Monitors the state of health of pregnant women with high-risk pregnancy through monthly and on-need checkups.
· Follows up on the inventory levels of obstetrical products/materials aboard the PSU and coordinates with the HUB Administrative Assistant to ensure their availability.
· Ensures that obstetrical equipment aboard the PSU is properly operated, maintained, and stored.
· Provides therapeutic counseling and education for pregnant women and couples/families with a focus on various topics such as perinatal mental health disorders, lifestyle & habits, and healthy diet.
· Provides parenting support and counseling for pregnant women and mothers covering couple's needs, breast-feeding, and preparation for childbirth.
· Delivers awareness sessions targeted to pregnant women and/or couples across PSU service locations, aiming at enhancing the parenting experience.
· Follows all protocols, processes and procedures related to disease prevention and infection control within the PSU.
· Applies and follows the code of ethics, values, mission, and vision of Order of Malta – Lebanon.
· Performs other related duties assigned by the Field Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree of Midwife
· Practice Permission
· Diploma in echography / breastfeeding from a university is a plus.
· 2 years’ experience as a midwife in either a clinic, a hospital or a community center
· Knowledge of good practice and policies of midwifery
· Responsible with the ability to ensure emergency management.
· Detail oriented and analytical skills
· Collaboration and teamwork
· Communication skills
· Planning and organization skills
· Initiative and drive for results.
· Ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
· MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
· Fluency in Arabic, English and French (written and spoken).
