SUMMARY
Oversee the Primary Health Care Satellite Unit (PSU) pharmacy activity in compliance with professional practices, established SOPs and guidelines, dispenses prescription medications to beneficiaries during PSU field visits, and offers expertise, education, and advice on the safe use of prescriptions and healthy lifestyles to beneficiaries across the mobile unit's service locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
•Fills patients' medical history, allergies, vital signs, physician diagnoses and exams in the Health Information System
•Creates and maintains beneficiaries' pharmacy files on paper and in the Health Information System
•Interprets and transcribes medication information on required documents and reports
•Provides updated lists of available medications to the Primary Health Care Satellite Unit (PSU) physicians
•Reviews drug prescriptions for any drug-drug interactions, drug duplication, or inaccurate dosages, and resolve them with the prescribing physician
•Dispenses drugs and refills to patients according to the physician's prescription, ensuring compliance with good dispensing practices
•Interacts with and educates beneficiaries on their medications (usage, necessity to adhere to treatment, drug interactions…) and on healthy lifestyles
•Verifies medical reconciliations in beneficiaries' files and checks for compliance
•Checks completeness of beneficiaries' medical files and coordinates with the PSU Nurse to ensure all missing information (laboratory results, imaging test results, ICD-10 diagnosis, etc.) is added
•Ensures that pharmacy/medical equipment and working areas within the PSU are properly operated, organized, clean and maintained
•Manages PCU pharmacy stock in compliance with good storage practices (receiving and quality-checking of drugs, storage per category, expiry dates, rotation with respect to first-expired-first-out (FEFO), shelf/vehicle-compartment replenishment, etc.)
•Coordinates with the HUB Administrative Assistant / central warehouse Chief Pharmacist on the replenishment of the PSU medical drug stock according to the budget and needs
•Trains, coaches and develops Pharmacy Assistant(s) where applicable, and monitors their performance and results
•Performs periodic and annual pharmacy inventory of PSU stock
•Completes and compiles required pharmacy records and reports for submission to the Ministry of Public Health, partners, and the Order of Malta
•Follows up on all protocols, processes and procedures related to disease prevention and infection control within the PSU.
•Answers incoming beneficiary calls and responds to physicians' and paramedical team's questions regarding medication
•Supports the medical team during PSU operations and coordinates with the Field Coordinator on daily activities
•Performs other related duties assigned by the Field Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
· Pharmacist degree, registered at the Order of Lebanese Pharmacists, and with a permit to practice from the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health
· Minimum 3 years of experience in a position requiring drug stock management
· Computer literate, good knowledge of Microsoft Office
· Knowledge of Health Information System. Phenics is plus
· Fluency in Arabic with an additional language (English or French)
· Patient file management
· Communication skills (oral and written)
· Collaboration and Teamwork
· Organizational skills
· Analytical and problem-solving skills
· Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and under stressful situations
· Ability to adhere to ethical considerations and principles regarding work with vulnerable populations
