Starting year: 1989

The center was open as a tribute to Prince Robert de Lobkowicz, the son of Prince Edward de Lobkowicz, former Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Lebanon, for the treatment of cerebral palsy patients who are rejected by schools, the job market and society. It was created and equipped in 1989 by the Order of Malta on the premises of the Bhannes hospital of the Daughters of Charity, and was officially inaugurated in 1991 by the Lebanese minister of Health Marwan Hamadeh.

This center of the Order of Malta can accommodate up to 100 cerebral palsy children aged between 2 to 15 years. These children suffer from severe cerebral motor disabilities, due to a lack of oxygen at birth, all the while remaining smart and clever. They are surrounded by a large team of therapists and specialists who provide them with care as well as school education. The main objective is to try to reintegrate them into civil society.

The Balneotherapy:

A balneotherapy pool, fully equipped to deal with the physical rehabilitation of disabled children, has been specially constructed by the Order and also serves the reeducation department of the Bhannes hospital.
