The Order of Malta Lebanon launches its specialized outpatient clinics

Created as an extension of the Order of Malta Lebanon’s Community Health Center in Aïn El-Remmaneh, the new outpatient clinic for specialized consultations has been welcoming, since January 24, patients requiring specialized medical services in neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s, dementia, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, epilepsy), oncology, and mental health; all chronic pathologies representing a significant economic burden for patients and their families.

Patients, either referred by the centers of the Order of Malta Lebanon or coming at their own initiative, benefit from a range of services that vary from consultations to screenings (EMG) and imaging (MRI scan) free of charge. However, medication is not provided. Consultations are offered by specialists who also practice in the various university hospitals of Beirut.

The clinic, managed by the medical committee of the Association, is located on the 4th floor of the Saint-Joseph center, Achrafieh, and receives patients from Monday to Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by appointment made in advance by calling the following number 76 /512164.

This project, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and with the support of Malteser International, is the latest of many initiatives implemented by the Order of Malta Lebanon since 1957 in the service of the most vulnerable and testifies of its commitment to an increasingly deprived population.

The clinic is now part of a network covering the entire Lebanese territory and comprising 11 Community Health Centers, 6 Mobile Medical Units, 3 Daycare Centers for the Elderly, 2 Hosting Centers for People with Disabilities, 1 Mobile Medical Antenna, 5 Warm Homes for the Elderly, 1 Educational Therapeutic Center for Cerebral Palsy Children with Balneotherapy and 5 partner centers, including a Covid-19 Intermediary Care Unit.
