St John the Baptist Chapel
The Order of Malta inaugurated its first chapel in Lebanon, located in its center for disabled people in Chabrouh, and dedicated to St John the Baptist, Patron of the Order.
As soon as you step into the Chapel, a sense of humility and faith pervades you.
The Chapel was dedicated by H.E. Cardinal Leonardo Sandri in October 2016. The relics of the Lebanese saints, Charbel, Nehmetallah Hardini and Rafqa, along with a jewel box with the relics of the saints John Capistran (15th century), Theophile de Corte (17th century), Bernadin de Sienne (15th century) and Nicholas of Tolentino (18th century) were sealed in the altar.
A reliquary containing very rare bone debris of St. John the Baptist, Mary Magdalene and Louis de Gonzague is exposed in the chapel as well as the relics of St Anthony of Padua.
As long as the sun will shine, this chapel will be a symbol of love, tolerance, commitment and coexistence.
