The Youth is largely involved with the elderly of the various centers of the Order of Malta in Lebanon. A series of projects are implemented throughout the year to ensure a sustained relationship between these elderly and the volunteers.
The Elderly Sponsorship Program
Creating a continuous follow up with the elderly of the Ain El Remmaneh Center allows to strengthen the bond between them and the volunteers. Monthly visits are paid to the elderly packages where packages that cover all their basic needs are delivered. This activity also allows to keep them company to overcome their loneliness.
The Yearly House Renovation Project
Transforming houses into homes is the mission of the Youth! Every year, we select the house of one of the seniors of Ain el Remmaneh who lives in very poor conditions and we refurbish it, making it more comfortable and most importantly suited for elderly persons.
Monthly lunches and Outings
These lunches represent an opportunity for the seniors to talk about their past, share stories and beautiful memories with volunteers they regard as their grandchildren. Spending time in the outdoors is always a great idea, especially for those seniors who long to visit some of Lebanons beautiful sites, hometowns as well as pilgrimage areas.
Christmas House Decoration in Collaboration with Who is Hussein
Inter-Faith collaboration and tolerance is a key message of the Order of Malta that the Youth is also keen on spreading, especially during the Christmas season. We have been collaborating with Who is Hussein, a Muslim Shia youth NGO for several years now where we decorate together the homes of the elderly of Ain el Remmaneh.
The Christmas Market
A Christmas market is organized at the Ain el Remmaneh center, during which the community and especially our seniors, get the chance to come, pick up all kinds of gifts for themselves or family and friends, free of charge. Animation is also organized along with food stations and Christmas carols.
