Volunteers are typically aged between 18 and 30 years of age. A field training is given to all those who have never had a previous experience with the disabled, to teach them proper handling of our “guests” as well as necessary sanitary best practices during the camp. Only high levels of tenacity, creativity, tolerance and empathy are required.
Team Structure
- The Camp leader makes sure all camp operations are running smoothly, he relays the rules and regulations to volunteers. He is helped by group leaders.
- A logistics team is assigned by the camp leader to make sure all camp provisions such as food and sanitary products are available. Parents of volunteers who wish to join the camps, can participate in this team as Mammas & Pappas.
- An entertainment team is assigned by the camp leader to set the daily activities of the camp, maintaining high spirits and a joyful atmosphere. Jumpers are also assigned to replace a tired volunteer while he’s resting.
- All teams also include a doctor and a priest for medical assistance and spiritual guidance.
A typical day will start at 7 am and end at 8 pm, after which a nightshift team of other volunteers takes over. The nightshift team consists of different volunteers each night.
