Starting year: 2016

Because of the heavy influx of refugees in the very poor region of the Beqaa and upon the wishes expressed by the Lebanese Minister of Public Health, the Order of Malta Lebanon decided to launch a Mobile Medical Unit in the area, to provide free healthcare services to the displaced population and the impoverished local host communities.

Vital program of the Order in Lebanon, the project of Mobile Medical Units has been designed to reach people in remote villages who are unable to access our Centers.

Created in 2016, funded by Fondation Pierre Fabre, through Malte-Liban Association, it achieves approximately 1,000 medical acts per month. It covers a great number of settlements in the West Beqaa area, taking our Kefraya CHC as a hub.

Operations on the ground are coordinated with the municipalities and the UNHCR.

Medical Services Covered:

Primary Healthcare services, including diagnosis and medical drugs.

Referrals to our CHC in Kefraya for specialized consultations.

Transfers to hospitals in severe cases where the Order of Malta Lebanon covers the needed amount for the hospitalization and the secondary healthcare services that are not covered by any other party, for the displaced and the needy host communities.
