The Lieutenant of Grand Master visits Lebanon

H.E.Fra’ Giacomo Dalla Torre del Tempio di Sanguinetto, Lieutenant of Grand Master and a delegation from the Sovereign Order of Malta, visited Lebanon for 3 days. The first day was dedicated to the visit of the Order of Malta’s center in Chabrouh, during which the delegation visited the center, prayed together with the disabled guests and the volunteers at the St John the Baptist Chapel, where relics of St Antoine of Padova were gifted.During this day, the Lieutenant of Grand Master and the delegation were able to witness the Faith and Service, the two charismas of the Order, put in practice among the youth in this Holy Land of Lebanon.

The 2nd day started with the visit of our Mobile Medical Unit in one of the settlement for the Syrian displaced population in Jib Jannin. After which, the delegation twent to our center in Kefraya to visit the medical center and the daycare center for the elderly.
Moments of intense emotions filled the hearts of everyone when a prayer for Our Lady was sang by all the elderlies from different religions.

In the afternoon, the delegation were invited to plant a Cedar tree in the Barouk Cedar Reserve on a special hill that was dedicated to the Order of Malta by the Druze community to mark their special ties. A ceremony followed to mark the launch of the medical center project of the Sheikh Abou Hassan Aref Halawi Charity Foundation in collaboration with the Lebanese Association.
In his very much appreciated speech, the Lieutenant of Grand Master highlighted the common values of humanity shared by the Druze community and the Order of Malta.

The 3rd day started with a courtesy visit to the President of the Lebanese Republic, H.E. President Michel Aoun.The President praised the Order of Malta for its key role carrying out humanitarian and social projects within the country outlining the Orders successful medical and health centers, which provide health services to both Lebanese and displaced Syrians.
The Lieutenant of the Grand Master also affirmed the Orders commitment to serving those most vulnerable in Lebanon stating: We will do everything in our power to help Lebanon overcome the difficult conditions it is going through.

After the visit, the delegation travelled to the Baalbek area to launch the project “Improved healthcare for refugees and hosting communities by strengthening the health structures in Lebanon” (Charit et Partage center), funded by the German government (BMZ) throughMalteser Internationaland implemented by the Lebanese Association in collaboration with the Diocese of Baalbek-Deir Al Ahmar.
The launch took place in the presence of the Deputy Prime Minister of Lebanon and Minister of Public Health, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany and all the religious leaders, the deputies and heads of municipalities of the region.
